Clayton Thorson, QB-Northwestern
The loss of running back Jeremy Larkin was a big blow to the Northwestern offense and it seems as if quarterback Clayton Thorson is up for the challenge. In the past two games, Thorson is 72-of-111 passing for 828 yards and six touchdowns.
Jordan Love, QB-Utah State
Jordan Love is leading one of the more explosive offenses in college football this season. The Aggies are averaging 51.7 points per game and Love has accounted for ten touchdowns in the past two weeks alone. After a road trip to Wyoming this week, Utah State plays New Mexico, Hawaii, San Jose State, and Colorado State.
Zach Wilson, QB-BYU
Going into Saturday’s game against Hawaii, BYU’s season high for points scored in a game was 30. Making the first start of his career, Zach Wilson threw three touchdown passes and ran for another as the Cougars romped 49-23. Expect the true freshman to remain the starter throughout the remainder of 2018.
Darrynton Evans, RB/WR-Appalachian State
In last Tuesday’s win at Arkansas State, the Appalachian State offense was dealt a major blow when starting running back Jalin Moore was lost for the season. Darrynton Evans seems to be the next man up, as he ran for 115 yards and a touchdown following Moore’s injury.
Jaret Patterson, RB-Buffalo
Freshman running back Kevin Marks made our waiver wire list a few weeks ago, and now it seems as if we need to add another Buffalo freshman back. The Bulls’ recent run-heavy attack has featured Marks and Patterson, with the latter rushing for at least 90 yards and a touchdown in three of the last four games.
Devin Ozigbo, RB-Nebraska
Ozigbo isn’t a must-start every week, but he can be a factor when the matchups are favorable. In two of Nebraska’s last three games, Ozigbo has rushed for at least 159 yards and two touchdowns.
Elijah Mitchell, RB-Louisiana
Elijah Mitchell’s teammate Trey Ragas has rushed for at least 90 yards in five of six games this season, but it’s Mitchell who leads the team in rushing touchdowns. In the past two games, Mitchell has 32 carries for 298 yards and six touchdowns
Deon Jackson, RB-Duke
In Brittain Brown’s absence, Deon Jackson carried the ball 21 times for 98 yards and a touchdown in Duke’s 28-14 win at Georgia Tech. Jackson has proven to be productive, even when splitting carries with Brown, as he has scored a touchdown in all but one of the Blue Devils’ games this season.
Kenny Young, RB-Miami (OH)
Since returning from injury, Kenny Young has 168 rushing yards, 65 receiving yards, and has scored four touchdowns in the past two games. His big-play ability was sorely missed, especially after receiver James Gardner went down with a season-ending injury.
DJ Knox, RB-Purdue
DJ Knox has definitely stepped into more of a feature role in the Purdue backfield this season. He has at least 15 carries in four of six games, two 150-yard rushing games, and has scored in four of six games.
Tyler King, RB-Marshall
Tyler King was one of our preseason sleepers, but he spent the first four games splitting carries with Keion Davis in the Marshall backfield. Davis has missed the past two games with an injury and King has made the most of the opportunity, rushing for 360 yards and and two touchdowns, proving that he is the most talented back on the roster.
BJ Farrow, WR-Liberty
All of the fantasy attention leading up to the start of the 2018 season was centered around quarterback Stephen Calvert and receiver Antonio Gandy-Golden, but BJ Farrow has done enough to earn a spot on fantasy rosters. The senior receiver has topped the 100-yard receiving mark in two of the last three games and has scored in four of the last five games.
Flynn Nagel, WR-Northwestern
If you understand why Northwestern quarterback Clayton Thorson is on this list, it makes sense that his top target would be added, too. In the past two games, Flynn Nagel has caught 22 passes for 331 yards and two touchdowns.
Cheyenne O’Grady, TE-Arkansas
If you listened to last week’s YouTube show, Arkansas TE Cheyenne O’Grady was given as a player with fantasy potential heading into the Razorbacks’ game against Ole Miss. In that game, O’Grady caught three passes for 41 yards and a touchdown, and now has ten receptions and three touchdowns in the past two games.
