Historically, as we head into the final one-third of the season, the waiver wire is incredibly thin.  This season is no different, but there are a handful of names that could provide some late-season depth.

Sean Chambers, QB-Wyoming

One week after sparking a second-half rally against Utah State, Sean Chambers started at quarterback and led the Cowboys to their first win over an FBS opponent since the 2018 opener at New Mexico State.  In Wyoming’s 34-21 win at Colorado State, the freshman quarterback completed 7-of-10 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 101 yards and a touchdown on the ground.  Chambers will obviously feature more as a runner in the offense, but with matchups against San Jose State, Air Force, and New Mexico over the final four weeks, he could provide a spark to fantasy owners needing another option at QB2 in Full FBS formats.

Bryant Koback, RB-Toledo

Since Shakif Seymour and Art Tompkins were returning at running back for the Rockets in 2018, Bryant Koback wasn’t even on the radar.  Going into Week 10, the 6-foot and 193-pound freshman leads the team in rushing and rushing touchdowns.  Koback has rushed for at least 80 yards and a touchdown in three of the last four games and has an impressive 5.9 yards per carry average.  The Rockets finish with games against Ball State, NIU, Kent State, and Central Michigan in the final month of the season.

Tra Barnett, RB-Georgia State

Junior running back Tra Barnett has scored a touchdown in four straight games, has rushed for at least 60 yards in three of the past four games, and topped the 100-yard mark for the first time this season in a 37-34 loss to Coastal Carolina.  Barnett could add depth to your roster over the next two weeks, as the Panthers host Texas State and play at Louisiana before closing with Appalachian State and Georgia Southern.

Reggie Corbin, RB-Illinois

On Saturday, Illinois running back Reggie Corbin had his most productive game of the year, running the ball 18 times for 155 yards and a touchdown.  His 18 carries were a season-high, but he has gotten at least eleven carries in six of eight games, has scored in six of eight games, and has rushed for 100 yards in each of the last two games.

Johnny Ford, RB-South Florida

The 5-foot-5 freshman running back has been electric throughout the month of October, combining with Jordan Cronkrite to give the Bulls a dynamic 1-2 punch on the ground.  Ford has topped the 100-yard rushing mark in back-to-back weeks and has scored at least two touchdowns in three of the past four games.

Ke’Shawn Vaughn, RB-Vanderbilt

Ke’Shawn Vaughn has had a quiet, yet productive, fantasy season as the Commodores’ lead back, scoring in six of Vanderbilt’s last seven games.  Going into Saturday’s game at Arkansas, Vaughn had only logged more than eleven carries in a game once this season.  In a 45-31 win in Fayetteville, he carried the ball a season-high 26 times for 172 yards and three touchdowns.  After a bye in Week 10, Vanderbilt closes the season with Missouri, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

John Hightower, WR-Boise State

John Hightower is the Broncos’ big-play threat and it showed in Saturday’s 48-38 win over Air Force. The 6-foot-2 junior receiver caught eight passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns.  Hightower now has six receiving touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns, and has produced five plays of 40-plus yards.

Michael Pittman, WR-USC

We’re probably a week late on Pittman, as many fantasy owners, especially those in Power 5 leagues, likely picked him up after the junior receiver produced back-to-back 100-yard games against Colorado and Utah.  Heading into Weeks 10, Pittman has at least 70 yards receiving and a touchdown in four of the past five games.
