Power 5 Notes

  • The weather played a major factor in the UVA-Pitt game and Bryce Perkins’ fantasy owners took a hit.
  • Not only did Laviska Shenault miss Colorado’s game against Arizona, but the fantasy owners who started WR KD Nixon in Shenault’s absence, got burned when Nixon left the game after a 1st quarter TD run with what looked like a hip injury.
  • Arizona QB Khalil Tate has thrown 8 TD passes in the past two games, but he still isn’t much of a running threat, totaling 41 yards on the ground the last two weeks.  RB JJ Taylor has rushed for at least 150 yards in each of the last three games.
  • Clemosn WR Justyn Ross has at least 70 receiving yards in three of the last four games.  WR Tee Higgins has scored in four consecutive games and in five of the last six.
  • Syracuse WR Sean Riley has caught at least 6 passes in seven of nine games.
  • Iowa State QB Brock Purdy has thrown at least 3 TD passes in three of the last four games.  RB David Montgomery’s five game scoring streak came to an end against Kansas.  WR Hakeem Butler has three straight 100-yard games, has scored in four straight games, and in six of eight this season.

  • South Carolina RB Rico Dowdle suffered a lower-leg injury early in the game against Ole Miss.
  • Oklahoma State WR Tylan Wallace has six 100-yard games and has scored in four of the past five games.
  • After rushing for 100-plus yards and 2 TDs in four of the last five games, I am assuming that Tobias Oliver will remain Georgia Tech’s starting quarterback.
  • NC State RB Reggie Gallaspy ran for a season-high 106 yards in the win over Florida State, but he failed to score a TD for the first time this season.  WR Kelvin Harmon has scored in four of the last five games.
  • Illinois RB Reggie Corbin has scored in five of the last six games and in seven of nine this season.
  • Purdue WR Rondale Moore was questionable all week, but reports of Moore playing came in early enough for fantasy owners to get him in their active rosters.  In his case, getting timely news ended up being a curse, as Moore finished with 6 receptions for 31 yards.  QB David Blough has thrown at least 3 TD passes in five of the last seven games.
  • Georgia RB D’Andre Swift is looking like a must-start down the stretch after back-to-back 100-yard games, his first two 100-yard games of 2018.
  • West Virginia WR David Sills has now caught a TD pass n four straight games, his longest streak of the season.  QB Will Grier has passed for at least 300 yards and 3 TDs in all but one game this season.

  • Arizona State RB Eno Benjamin has scored 2 or more TDs in four of his last five games.  WR N’Keal Harry had his first 100-yard game since the season opener against UTSA.
  • Missouri RB Larry Rountree has score at least 1 TD in five of the last six games and RB Damage Crockett has scored exactly 1 TD in five of the last six games.  Emanuel Hall did return and caught four passes for 77 yards and a TD.

  • Oklahoma WR Lee Morris has scored in four of the last five games and has caught 2 TD passes in three of the last five.
  • So, after much speculation Saturday night, it seems as if Texas Tech QB Alana Bowman had an issue with his lungs again.  Bowman was 21-of-26 for 227 yards and 2 TDs at halftime.  WR Antoine Wesley has gone over 100 yards receiving in three consecutive games and has at least seven receptions in six of his last seven games.
  • Stanford RB Bryce Love’s numbers suggest he is back on the mend, 18 carries for 71 yards and a TD.  He is still not 100% healthy and the Cardinal have a juicy Week 11 matchup against Oregon State.  TE Kaden Smith has three consecutive 100-yard games.
  • Washington RB Myles Gaskin looks healthy, too.  Gaskin had 28 carries for 148 yards and a TD against Stanford.  After a bye week, Gaskin will face Oregon State in Week 12.
  • USC WR Michael Pittman suffered an injury against Oregon State and did not have a catch Saturday night.
  • Washington State QB Gardner Minshew has passed for at least 300 yards in every game this season, but he did not throw at least 2 TD passes in a game for the first time this season, in Saturday’s win over Cal.
