QUARTERBACKS

Carter Stanley, QB-Kansas

The waiver wire was light on quarterback names last week, but we may have overlooked one, Kansas’ Carter Stanley.  Not only is Stanley coming off of back-to-baack 300-yard passing games, but he has thrown at least three touchdown passes in each of the last three games and in five of the last six.

Next 3 weeks:  Kansas State, OFF, at Oklahoma State

RUNNING BACKS

Jamale Carothers, RB-Navy

We finally have a consistent fantasy option in the Navy offense besides quarterback Malcolm Perry.  Fullback Jamale Carothers has rushed for at least 50 yards and a touchdown in three consecutive games.  In Saturday’s 41-38 win over Tulane, Carothers carried the ball 14 times for 154 yards and three touchdowns, while adding another score on a 31-yard touchdown reception.

Next 3 weeks:  at UConn, OFF, at Notre Dame

Isaiah Spiller, RB-Texas A&M

This is Spiller’s second listing on our Waiver Wire in 2019, but after totaling only 36 rushing yards from Weeks 4-7, he was probably dropped in most leagues.  After averaging 84 rushing yards over the last two games and scoring in each, Spiller is a legitimate fantasy option in Week 10 against UTSA.

Next 3 weeks:  UTSA, OFF, South Carolina

Marcel Murray, RB-Arkansas State

Arkansas State running back Marcel Murray disappeared from radar after suffering an injury in Week 2, an injury that resulted in him missing three games.  Now healthy, Murray has put the Red Wolves’ running game on his back, carrying the ball 57 times for 278 yards and two touchdowns over the last two games.

Next 3 weeks:  at UL Monroe, OFF, Coastal Carolina

Marcus McElroy, WR-Colorado State

Early last week, it was announced that the Mountain West’s leading rusher, Marvin Kinsey, was suspended from all football related activities.  We assumed Marcus McElroy would be the next man up and Saturday’s game against Fresno State showed us just that.  McElroy carried the ball 18 times for 117 yards and two touchdowns in the Rams’ 41-31 road win.

Next 3 weeks:  UNLV, OFF, Air Force

Timothy Jackson, RB-Air Force

Air Force has started three different quarterbacks this season, and while it seems Donald Hammond should be fine moving forward, that position has not consistently produced for fantasy owners.  However, over the last three games, fullback Timothy Jackson has been the most consistent player in the Air Force offense.  Jackson has strung together three consecutive 100-yard rushing games and has scored a touchdown in the last four games in which he has gotten at least one rushing attempt.

Next 3 weeks:  Army, at New Mexico, at Colorado State

George Holani, RB-Boise State

Fantasy owners have been teased this season by Boise State running backs Robert Mahone and George Holani.  Mahone has been banged up and has given Holani every opportunity to prove his worth.  After carrying the ball 20 times for 97 yards in a 28-25 loss at BYU two weeks ago, Holani proved once again that he can hold up when given 20-plus carries a game (22-103-0 in Week 2 vs. Marshall).  Coming off a bye week, there is a chance that Holani could steal the RB1 spot away from injury-riddled Robert Mahone.

Next 3 weeks:  at San Jose State, Wyoming, New Mexico

RECEIVERS

Stephon Robinson, WR-Kansas

Either Kansas’ schedule played out perfectly for improved passing numbers or we’re watching an improved offense.  There is no doubt that the Jayhawks’ bye week on October 12 put us off of Robinson following a two-touchdown game against Oklahoma, but after catching at least five passes and two touchdowns in three consecutive games, we can’t ignore him any longer.

Next 3 weeks:  Kansas State, OFF, at Oklahoma State

T.J. Simmons, WR-West Virginia

Earlier in the season, teammate Sam James was the top fantasy receiver in the Mountaineers’ offense, but T.J. Simmons seems to be the player you want on your roster now.  Simmons has scored in each of the last three games and averaged 95 receiving yards per game during that stretch.

Next 3 weeks:  at Baylor, Texas Tech, at Kansas State

Rashee Rice, WR-SMU

SMU receiver Reggie Roberson was carted off the field against Houston with a foot injury, and even though we may not find out the full extent of his injury until Monday, we are assuming he could be out for some time.  If so, head coach Sonny Dykes has stated that freshman Rashee Rice would likely assume Roberson’s role in the offense.  In Thursday’s 34-31 win over the Cougars, Rice caught three passes for 16 yards.

Next 3 weeks:  at Memphis, East Carolina, OFF

Antonio Nunn, WR-Buffalo

In Buffalo’s 43-20 win over Central Michigan, receiver Antonio Nunn posted his best numbers of the season, catching five passes for 77 yards and two touchdowns.  Nunn has not caught more than five passes in any of the last four games, but he has caught a touchdown pass in three of the last four.

Next 3 weeks:  at Eastern Michigan, OFF, at Kent State
