Snatch ‘Em Up Now

If they weren’t already drafted in your league, these guys will be hot commodities on the wire this week.

Quarterbacks:

Liam Szarka, Air Force – Szarka is the perfect college fantasy quarterback. He’s mobile. He’s thrown for 200+ yards in each of the last three games – when’s the last time that happened for an Air Force quarterback? And most importantly…the Air Force defense stinks! 39 or more fantasy points in each of the last three games with no signs of slowing down.

Nick Minicucci, Delaware – 27 or more fantasy points in four of five games played this season for Minicucci with 30+ in outings as well. The fantasy production has come every which way this season too for Minicucci. Against Western Kentucky on Friday, it was with his legs, rushing for three scores. But the Delaware QB also ranks second in CUSA in passing (274.4 YPG) and tied for first in attempts per game (37.2).

Running Backs:

Bo Jackson, Ohio State – Jackson is dominating the backfield market share the last two weeks, with CJ Donaldson only coming on in goal-line situations and James Peoples in the game during garbage time. The true freshman rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown in the win over Minnesota and has a matchup with the 13th ranked run defense in the B1G this week with Illinois.

Nate Sheppard, Duke – Sheppard actually hurt is YPC average this week against California, falling now to eight yards per rush attempt after rumbling for 91 yards and two scores in Saturday’s win. Duke is on bye this week, but get the last ranked run defense in the ACC in Week 8 vs. Georgia Tech.

Wide Receivers:

Keagan Johnson, New Mexico – We mentioned in the offseason that this coaching staff for New Mexico will absolutely feed its WR1 if one develops, and the Lobos have one in Kansas State transfer Keagan Johnson who has a combined 280 receiving yards in the last two games. The run game has been struggling the last two weeks, which has also contributed to Johnson’s explosion over this span.

Jordan Napier, San Diego State – Napier is living up to the preseason hype, now with two 150+ receiving performances in the last three games. The sophomore’s 438 receiving yards account for 47% of the team’s receiving production for the season and has 37% of the target share overall.

Isaiah Sategna, Oklahoma – The slot position is almost always profitable in the Ben Arbuckle offensive system. We just thought it’d be Deion Burks instead. Sategna is playing 95% of his snaps in the slot this season and has been excellent the last three weeks with 299 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Tight Ends:

N/A – No must-adds this week. It is a BAD year for the tight end position in CFF.

Worth A Look

If you have the roster room, these prospects are worth a look.

Quarterbacks:

Bear Bachmeier, BYU – 24 or more fantasy points in four of five starts for the true freshman. The only time he did not score 24 fantasy points was against the worst P4 team Bachmeier faced this year in a blowout of Stanford. The schedule does ramp up here, though, for the Cougars, going on the road to Arizona (No. 4 scoring DEF in B12), Utah at home and a road matchup with Texas Tech in the next month.

Mason Heintschel, Pittsburgh – The Eli Holstein experiment is officially over. Heintschel was reportedly getting first-team reps this week in practice with no official starter announced for Saturday, but with his job hanging in the balance, Pat Narduzzi handed the keys over to the true freshman. The move paid off, with Heintschel tossing four touchdowns and over 300 yards in the blowout win over Boston College. Heintschel is an add, particularly in dynasty more so than redraft, but we’d like to see him replicate this against Florida State on the road next week before fully believing.

Bishop Davenport, South Alabama – The passing offense for South Alabama is very inconsistent, but Davenport continues to put up fantasy points, largely with his legs as he’s rushed for 131 yards and two scores in the last two weeks. 21 or more fantasy points scored in four of his last five games.

Running Backs:

Braylon McReynolds, Louisiana-Monroe – McReynolds made this list with the thought of sitting him against Northwestern, and proved to be the right move, rushing for just 49 yards on eight attempts. Sun Belt play is here now for the Warhawks, and McReynolds has a matchup this week with the 9th ranked run defense in the conference in Coastal Carolina – a team that might’ve just quit on its head coach.

Wayne Knight / Jordan Fuller, James Madison – George Pettaway is out for a while, and despite returning against Georgia State, Ayo Adeyi is a non-factor. Knight and Fuller combined for 180 rushing yards and a touchdown in the win on Saturday. JMU is having major struggles throwing the ball with Alonza Barnett, so expect the Dukes to lean on the run moving forward.

Kendrick Raphael, California – It was a struggle running the football against the Duke front, but Raphael still managed two rushing TDs in the loss. Most notable was the rushing distribution with Raphael getting 18 carries compared to just three for the next closest Cal running back.

Wide Receivers:

Kyri Shoels, San Jose State – Shoels has emerged as the team’s legitimate WR2 option behind Danny Scudero, now with 28 receptions over the last four weeks. Was a perfect 7-for-7 on Friday vs. New Mexico for 81 yards. There’s room for two or three relevant fantasy receivers at San Jose State as the Spartans have now surged to second in the country in pass play rate (63.9%).

Michael Jackson, Purdue – Hee hee. Jackson has been a DFS favorite because of his sub-$3k salaries but enters the CFF equation after nabbing 14 receptions on 16 targets in the loss to Illinois. Particularly in PPR leagues, Jackson has been a steady presence in lineups, scoring double-digit fantasy points in four of five weeks.

Jacquon Gibson, UMass – Clear road ahead for Gibson with only MAC opponents remaining on the schedule. Gibson’s 56 targets this season have ranked seventh in the country.

Johntay Cook, Syracuse – Yes, Syracuse is a train wreck without Steve Angeli, but Rickie Collins seems to prefer throwing to Cook more than any other wideout, now with 31 targets combined over the last three games.

Griffin Wilde, Northwestern – It was looking grim for a while, but Wilde found a way to score double-digit fantasy points for the fourth time in five games, scoring a touchdown vs. Louisiana-Monroe. Penn State and Purdue in the next two games. He’s startable vs. Purdue, and potentially both weeks after watching what Kwazi Gilmer did to this Penn State secondary.

Dallas Wilson, Florida – Looks like the issues with DJ Lagway weren’t injury related, but more so that Eugene Wilson and J. Michael Sturdivant are bad wide receivers. Instantly the passing offense for the Gators came alive with Dallas Wilson in the starting lineup, catching six passes for 111 yards and two scores. We understand if you want to use a significant portion of your FAAB to acquire a 5-star talent like Wilson in any CFF format, but we’ll hold some reservation as we’ve rarely seen a Florida receiver be a weekly option in the past.

Victor Snow, Buffalo – Ta’Quan Roberson being in the lineup benefits Snow significantly as shown this past week with 136 yards, two touchdowns and 38 fantasy points in the win vs. Eastern Michigan. Snow now accounts for 37% of the team’s receiving yards.

Jordan Faison, Notre Dame – We’ll see Malachi Fields involved some, and Will Pauling’s role is definitely growing within the ND offense, but it’s clear as day that Faison is the preferred option to throw to for CJ Carr. 80+ receiving yards in each of the last three games. There’s nothing threatening defensively that is remaining on the ND schedule.

Tight Ends:

Bruin Fleischmann, Air Force – Giving Fleischmann his flowers after snagging a touchdown for the third straight game, after a career performance with 166 yards on seven targets. Not sure you can rely on an Air Force tight end to be startable week in, week out, but also would have said that Fleischmann would have three-straight games with a TD and that happened.

Longshots

Need to see more from these guys before pulling the trigger unless you are in the deepest of leagues.
