With another College Football Bowl Season right around the corner, Player Projections and DFS Write-ups are on the way.
However, after much consideration, we will not be publishing a Bowl Season Fantasy Guide this year. Why? The non-stop transfer and opt-out announcements throughout the FBS has a ripple effect on the content intended to be published in the Bowl Guide. We have always made the Bowl Guide available on the Thursday or Friday before the Army/Navy game, which is the weekend before bowl season begins. At least seven games have experienced a line adjustment of at least 3 points and the transfer/opt-out count has reached record numbers, all of which compromise the integrity of bowl picks (Confidence Pool picks and Against the Spread) and pre-bowl season player rankings and projections, which were going to be included in the Game Capsules. Also, the videos recorded for each individual bowl game would become less relevant and accurate as players transfer and/or opt-out. We can only assume more transfer/opt-out announcements are on the way.
We have not shut the door completely on creating a few bowl leagues, but unless you see an announcement in the next 2-3 days, we may be re-evaluating the setup for next year. Typically, our bowl leagues consist of eight teams with 43-man rosters, no transactions post-draft, but an add/drop for ‘zero-point’ scoring players. Those transactions require commissioner involvement, which doesn’t present a problem with a single league, but in 2019 we received enough requests to create 16 bowl leagues. With numerous ‘zero-point’ players all but guaranteed in the coming weeks, the commissioner oversight and involvement would be quite overwhelming.
Pulling the plug on the Bowl Season Fantasy Guide and bowl season leagues is an incredibly tough choice because of the time we have already committed to the project, but our goal is always to provide content, that not only conveys our passion for College Fantasy Football, but to do so as accurately as possible. Considering the short window we have to produce bowl content, the continuous breaking player news has made it extremely difficult to hit our deadline.
Bowl Leagues and the Bowl Guide will definitely be agenda items up for discussion when we evaluate our 2022 content.
Again, all DFS write-ups and Player Projections will be available this bowl season. Player Projections will be available next week (Tue-Wed, possibly sooner) and will be updated as player news becomes available.
If any of you play in bowl leagues and would like to discuss CFF or have any questions, reach out to Joe & Mike in DISCORD. If you create bowl leagues and need help with recruiting, visit the LEAGUE RECRUITMENT channel in DISCORD.
Thanks again for another great season and good luck to all of the DFS players throughout the bowl season.
