Since fantasy drafts are still ongoing and theCFFsite’s Draft Day Cheat is updated through Week 1, this week’s waiver wire only lists players that were not included on the Draft Day Cheat Sheet prior to Week 2.
QUARTERBACKS
Grayson McCall, Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina has found a quarterback in redshirt freshman Grayson McCall. In the Chanticleer’s 38-23 win at Kansas, McCall completed 11-of-18 passes for 133 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 73 yards and two scores on the ground. Not only is McCall a fantasy option moving forward, but he improves the fantasy stock of receiver Jaivon Heiligh and tight end Isaiah Likely.
Jeff Sims, Georgia Tech
True freshman quarterback Jeff Sims flashed his dual-threat ability in the Yellow Jackets’ Week 2 win at Florida State. Sims completed 24-of-35 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown, while leading the team with 64 yards on the ground. He certainly seems like a better fantasy option than the Seminoles’ James Blackman.
RUNNING BACKS
Seth McGowan, Oklahoma
Seth McGowan and Marcus Major were the most frequently used backs in the Sooners’ rout of Missouri State, but it was McGowan who impressed, as he carried the ball nine times for 61 yards and a touchdown, and added a 37-yard catch and score to his Week 2 stat line. The true freshman may end up being top choice even after T.J. Pledger returns, and don’t forget Rhmondre Stevenson will be back at some point, as well, but McGowan’s potential in the OU offense makes him too hard to pass on this early in the year.
Deuce Vaughn, Kansas State
If teammate Harry Trotter is the ‘thunder’ in the Kansas State running game, then the 5-foot-5 and 168-pound true freshman is the ‘lightning’. In Saturday’s 35-31 loss to Arkansas State, Vaughn carried the ball twelve times for 47 yards and a touchdown, and added another 24 yards receiving. The Wildcats’ running game should improve in the coming weeks, which makes Vaughn an interesting fantasy option in an offense that utilizes two backs.
RECEIVERS
Joshua Moore, Texas
In the Longhorns’ 59-3 win over UTEP, Joshua Moore caught six passes for 127 yards and a touchdown. The 6-foot-1 and 170-pound sophomore was targeted a team-high eight times and raced to a 78-yard score on the first offensive play of the season. Texas was missing an important piece of their passing game in slot receiver Jake Smith, but Moore still figures to be a major contributor in 2020.
Taylor Morin, Wake Forest
The 5-foot-10 and 175-pound redshirt freshman was targeted ten times in Saturday night’s game against Clemson and caught nine passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Going into Week 1, Morin and Jaquarii Roberson were listed as co-starters on the depth chart, but coming out of the game, Morin looks like the better fantasy option moving forward.
Marcel Barbee, Texas State
Marcel Barbee was instrumental in the Bobcats comeback against UTSA on Saturday. The 6-foot-2 and 192-pound junior college transfer was targeted six times and caught four passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Barbee may not be the best name on the radar, but receivers can be tough to find in deep FBS leagues and the Texas State passing attack has potential.
