Week 12 Notes & Observations

Due to the short holiday week, one in which most fantasy leagues only have two teams remaining, and in some instances four, if there is a consolation bracket, I am attempting to fast track this week’s Player Projections.  As a result, this week’s Notes & Observations will be short and sweet, and I certainly do not want the season to end without thanking all of you for another tremendous year and support, feedback, and engagement.

So, another season is coming to an end. We still have a lot of college football ahead of us, but for many of you, the College Fantasy Football season ends with Week 13.

Hopefully, many of you will return to College Fantasy Football in 2023, and I know most of you college football/college fantasy football diehards and junkies will be back.  The emotional roller coaster that is College Fantasy Football is addictive. From draft-day steals to draft-day busts, and from waiver wire gems to injury uncertainties, by year’s end, we all have players/waiver adds to brag about and others we choose to forget about.  Injuries and lack of information continues to be the Achilles heel of college fantasy football, and while it isn’t perfect and still a work in progress, the ‘auto-sub’ feature that Fantrax added into the CFB platform is a start in the right direction.

You can play the best matchups on paper and navigate around bad weather guys by utilizing roster depth, but there are just some things you cannot avoid in College Fantasy Football…unpredictability.

Who could predict Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the clear-cut preseason WR1, would hardly play this year due to a Week 1 injury?!  Who could predict Marshall RB Rasheen Ali would return in Week 12 and split carries with Khalan Laborn, who had run for 100+ yards or scored a TD in every game this year, well, until Week 12?!  And who could predict that the top scoring quarterback this year, North Carolina’s Drake Maye, would fail to reach double-digits in the semi-final week, Week 12…against Georgia Tech…in Chapel Hill?!

Yet, we keep coming back for more, because we love it.

I’ve always said College Fantasy Football is a game of knowledge and passion, and until that passion leaves my soul, I’ll be back next year.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays to the College Fantasy Football community.

See you in 2023!
