Week 9 Waiver Wire

QUARTERBACKS

Mike Collins, Rice
Collins has gotten off to a fast start, throwing four touchdown passes in each of the Owls’ first two games of 2020 and the upcoming schedule looks good, with matchups against UTSA, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, and UTEP in the month of November.

Jack Sears, Boise State
Hank Bachmeier missed Saturdays’ game against Air Force and there has been no reports suggesting he will return for the Broncos’ upcoming game against BYU. In a 49-30 win at Air Force, Sears completed 17-of-20 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns. If he plays against BYU and gets the win, there is a chance Sears could make the starting job his own.

RUNNING BACKS

Rhamondre Stevenson, Oklahoma
Stevenson missed the first five games of the season for disciplinary reasons, but he made his return on Saturday and led the Sooners in rushing against Texas Tech. In the 62-28 win, the senior back carried the ball 13 times for 87 yards and three touchdowns. In a season impacted by Covid-19 with associated team and league protocols, many fantasy owners have been forced to add and drop players with greater frequency this year, which might have resulted in Stevenson being available in your league’s waiver pool.

Juma Otoviano, Rice
Otoviano was ranked in our Preseason Fantasy Draft Guide, but many fantasy owners likely avoided Rice players because their first three games of the 2020 season were postponed. In the Owls’ first two games, Otoviano has carried the ball 45 times for 195 yards, and with a favorable upcoming schedule (see Mike Collins above), the sophomore back should be considered as a Flex option.

Zander Horvath, Purdue
The Boilermakers couldn’t buy a rushing yard in 2019, so when junior running back Zander Horvath ran for 102 yards and a touchdown in the season opener at Illinois, we were surprised. After his 129-yard follow-up performance against Iowa on Saturday, the junior back should be on more than just your radar. In two games, the junior back has carried the ball 43 times for 231 yards and a touchdown.

RECEIVERS

Austin Trammell, Rice
In theCFFsite’s 12 years of existence, we cannot remember a week when three players from the same team at different positions landed on our Waiver Wire. What makes this occurrence so odd is the fact we are suggesting Rice players, but the Owls’ upcoming schedule offers solid fantasy value and this is the time of the year when owners start readying the rosters for a playoff push.

Milton Wright, Purdue
As long as Rondale Moore remains sidelined, Milton Wright is a fantasy option. The sophomore receiver has caught thirteen passes for 185 yards and a touchdown, as a complement to David Bell, in the Boilermakers’ first two games.

Trey McBride (TE), Colorado State
The Rams had their season opener against New Mexico canceled, so Thursday night’s game at Fresno State was the first time we got a look at the new offense. Tight end Trey McBride was targeted twelve times and led the team with eight receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown in a 38-17 loss.
