Utah

+ Team Overview

With two of the Big 12’s better defenses squaring off, we’re targeting one-off plays rather than game stacks. QB Devon Dampier ($8,800) is our preferred Utah option, scoring 20+ fantasy points in all but one game with three 30-point performances. However, BYU allows just 16.3 FPPG to quarterbacks, so we’re limiting exposure at his elevated salary. RB Wayshawn Parker ($8,800) exited against Cincinnati with an injury that appeared precautionary, but his price and matchup make him an easy fade. BYU ranks third in the Big 12 in rushing yards allowed and has held three of four conference opponents without a rushing TD. If we do catch wind that Parker is limited at all, RB Daniel Bray ($4,800) would enter the mix after rushing for 76 yards and a TD last Saturday.

TE Hunter Andrews ($5,000) is extremely enticing after going for 100+ yards and two scores against Cincinnati, particularly with BYU surrendering nearly 15 FPPG to tight ends, one of the highest marks in the nation. We’d prefer Andrews $1K cheaper, but the matchup is excellent. WR Braden Pegan ($7,000) is significantly overpriced after totaling just 15 fantasy points over the last two weeks, with his best performances coming against inferior competition with the likes of Utah State, Colorado and Idaho. In total, Dampier and Andrews are our preferred one-off plays, while Parker and Pegan are fades at their current salaries.

BYU

+ Team Overview

We’re approaching BYU much like Utah, prioritizing one-off plays rather than game stacks with two of the Big 12’s better defenses. QB Bear Bachmeier ($8,000) has scored 21+ fantasy points in four of his last five games, but Utah allows just 15.4 FPPG to quarterbacks and recently neutralized the rushing ability of dual-threat QBs JC French and Conner Weigman. At this salary, Bachmeier isn’t a priority. We’re like fading the backfield, particularly with RB LJ Martin ($7,100) potentially returning from injury. Utah allows just 17.4 FPPG to opposing backfields and ranks 24th nationally in rush defense success rate.

Our preferred exposure comes through the receivers, with WR Legend Glasker ($5,800) and WR Kyler Kasper ($5,200) accounting for 57% of BYU’s receiving production and nine of its 13 receiving TDs. Glasker gets the edge, lining up in the slot 69% of the time, where Utah has been most vulnerable. Recent slot receivers DeAndre Moore (5-70-1), Amare Thomas (5-133-0) and Cam Pickett (8-134-0) have all found success against the Utes. TE Walker Lyons ($3,500) offers salary relief with five catches in three of his last four games, though Utah has defended tight ends well. Overall, Glasker is our preferred one-off play, with limited interest in the rest of BYU’s offense.

Clemson

+ Team Overview

With RB Gideon Davidson ruled out, Clemson will lean even more heavily on QB Tait Reynolds ($5,600), who has totaled 48 fantasy points over the last two weeks. His passing remains inconsistent, but 148 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries make him an intriguing salary-saving option. No Clemson WR has topped 80 yards since Week 5, making Reynolds a viable standalone play. If forcing a receiver into your lineup, WR Bryant Wesco Jr. ($5,000), WR Tyler Brown ($4,100) and WR TJ Moore ($4,200) are the options as Clemson does not rotate at the receiver position. Syracuse has allowed an opposing outside receiver to surpass 90 or more receiving yards in each of the last three games, fwiw.

RB Jarvis Green ($4,100) is expected to start with Davidson out, with RB Jay Haynes ($4,000) and RB Chris Johnson Jr. ($4,200) also involved. Syracuse allows 32 FPPG to opposing backfields, making Green an appealing value on paper. However, Clemson’s injury-ravaged interior offensive line, expected to start a freshman and two sophomores, raises major concerns. Green feels like a potential ownership trap despite the favorable matchup. For us, it’s Reynolds or fade Clemson entirely.

Syracuse

+ Team Overview

Clemson’s defense isn’t why the Tigers are slightly above average this season, ranking in the top half of the ACC in both scoring and total defense. Syracuse has transitioned away from its extreme pass-heavy approach, limiting the fantasy appeal of QB Steve Angeli ($5,200), who we’d only consider when stacked with one or two pass-catchers. Receiving production is heavily concentrated among WR Umari Hatcher ($8,200), WR Calvin Russell ($4,600) and TE Daunte Bacheyie ($3,800), who account for 14 of Syracuse’s 17 receiving TDs. With Clemson ranking 22nd nationally in pass defense success rate and projected first-round pick Ashton Hampton likely shadowing Hatcher, we’re prioritizing the cheaper Russell and Bacheyie.

RB Ahmad Miller ($5,100) might be our favorite Syracuse play, scoring in four straight games while averaging 23 carries over his last three. Clemson hasn’t allowed much fantasy production to opposing backfields, but ranks 101st in rush defense success rate, suggesting the Tigers are vulnerable on the ground. Overall, Miller is our preferred option, with Russell and Bacheyie providing affordable passing-game exposure.
